The presentation starts with a brief review of ocular anatomy and physiology and discusses how different legal and illegal pharmaceuticals affect the eye. This presentation not only discusses how to confidently mitigate various eye injuries but it also discusses how to identify ocular findings that help the EMTdiscover and treat systemic conditions. This presentation is adaptable to a diverse audience ranging from people with first aid training to the experienced Paramedic. The presentation length varies from 1-2 hours depending on the needs of the hosting department. I am a career Fire Lieutenant/Paramedic with over 23 years of experience (the last 14 years career). I am also a practicing Optometric Physician with the State of Oregon for the last 16 years. I have had the privilage of developing the Eye Emergency EMS protocol used in Washington County Oregon. This protocol now been adopted by many of the agencies in Multnomah and Clackamas Counties. I also give a presentation to primary care Physicians on confident mitigation of acute medical emergencies that occur in the primary care setting. This is the DPSST approved Maritime Fire Service Boat Operator series. The curriculum can be taught in whole or in parts and spans the Awareness through the Rescue Boat certification. The course content well exceeds the core DPSST requirements for each level presented and includes a significant amount of additional practical applications garnered from actual rescue boat operations. Marine Experience LLC has been in business since 1998 and has taught hundreds of public safety officers, wildlife officials and private personnel the art of boat operations and rescue boat operations. The curriculum is specifically tailored to teach agency based upon their watercraft type, response areas and team make-up.
