OR-OSHA Work Group

The OR-OSHA Fire Fighters Advisory Committee was established to provide technical information and guidance to Oregon OSHA for development, interpretation and application of occupational safety and health standards applicable to fire and emergency services.

The committee assists Oregon OSHA in an advisory role, providing technical guidance and recommendations.  Members of the committee are selected from representative parts of the Fire Service and OR-OSHA to work together in a non-adversarial, cooperative effort to create a safer work environment for fire fighters.  The committee also serves as a network between Oregon OSHA and the Fire Service to collect and distribute information.  OR-OSHA has a web site for this group located at http://www.orosha.org/standards/firefighter_advise.html.

The OR-OSHA Firefighter Advisory Committee is now being led by Dave Phillips, Captain with the Clackamas Fire District and past President of the Oregon Safety and Health Section of the OFCA. We met on May 25, 2011 at DPSST where the discussion centered on reinvigorating the group and starting again with a review and recommendations for Division 2L (see the attached document above). The next meeting (which will be a teleconference) is scheduled for June 22, 2011 at 1330.
