Next Executive Board Meeting February 19th 2013– Tillamook 911 Center 2311 3rd Street Tillamook, Oregon Time: Noon Hello everyone,It has been a year since I took office as your President and it seems like yesterday, where did 2012 go? It has been a whirlwind of business and has also been a pleasure to serve all of you. My fellow Executive Team members have been great to work with. Hopefully most of you have been pleased with the progress we have made over the year. Some highlights of the year are; *Open communication with everyone. *Visiting as many of the regional’s as possible *Meeting with the Life Members for their input and direction *Offering our assistance to both, The Oregon Fire Chiefs Association and the Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association. *Assisting Regional’s with training. *Helping to prepare the Annual Conference in Klamath Falls (April 2013) *Ensuring the Safety Symposium for 2013 (Thanks MWFIA!) *Maintaining a balanced budget for 2012 (Thanks Jim!) As we move forward into 2013 our focus will be on presenting courses across the state to help “Train the Trainer” and classes which may be difficult to get. If you have a need for a class in your area please contact us. I am sure we can find an instructor(s) to come to you and instruct. We are still looking for regional’s which may want to host our Executive Board Meetings throughout the year. Please let us know if you can help. The April meeting will be at conference in Klamath Falls, Chief Keady and his group have been working hard to present you with a GREAT conference this year. Registrations are open, so please take time and register for this great event! We will have two positions open for election at this year’s conference, Vice-President and Treasurer, both Jim Oeder and Jason McKinnon have been doing a great job in those positions and I would love to see them come back, BUT I also would like to see other folks with an interest step-up and run for these as well. My position of President will be open in 2014, along with the Secretary spot. Maybe you have aspirations for one of these? Get involved! Make your presence known to all! The Safety Symposium will resume in September 2013 in the Central Willamette Valley and is being hosted by Mid-Willamette Fire Instructors Association and OFIA. Keep a look out for upcoming news on this great event. It has been ask if a regional can have a webpage off of the OFIA website, not a link to their site, but a page hosted by OFIA. We are looking into what additional costs this may have, but if this is something your regional may be interested in as well please let us know. Well one year of my term as your President is in the books and I look forward to the second year moving this Association forward!
